MISSY - Shepherd/Hound mix

This is Missy!  She is one year old and about 48 pounds.  Missy is a VERY sweet Shepherd mix.  She was set to be euthanized at Animal Control when a volunteer stepped up and got her out of there. She didn't deserve to die. She deserves a wonderful forever home. Her foster mom says she's a very loving and quirky girl! She loves to play with her toys and toss them in the air while lying on her back. Nothing makes Missy happier than to be snuggled up on the couch or bed, keeping you warm. She doesn't chew anything, her foster parents leave her out while they're gone for a short while and she will entertain herself with her millions of toys. She loves to give hugs and kisses and she loves to watch her foster mom cook, she gets a treat for waiting on the carpet and not going into the kitchen. She gets along with other doggies and loves to play. Missy is spayed, house trained, crate trained, micro chipped, up to date on shots and currently on flea and heart worm preventative.

Hi! My name is Lucilla- but you can call me Lucy! I am about a year old and 43 lbs. I am full of energy and love! My foster mom thinks I am just the cutest Dalmatian/ American Bulldog mix- a goof ball! I was on death row- GULP!- until the wonderful people from A Better Life saved me! YAY! I LOVE long walks, belly rubs, piggy ears, cuddles, and kisses. I will play for hours if you want to! My foster mom is teaching me basic commands- I already know "sit" "come" "shake" and "down" and am learning more day by day! I'm a smart cookie! As my foster mom said, I have LOTS of puppy energy and I would love a home with a fenced yard with lots of room to run and play. I love playing with dogs but sometimes I get too excited so I need to be watched carefully during play time! I do need time to warm up to dogs so please be patient with me. I'm not fond of those other animals called "cats". I'd love to meet you! If you have room in your home and heart for me I will return your kindness with love and eternal devotion! CASPER

This is our boy Casper! But there is no way to capture his incredible personality until you meet him in person. At age 4 1/2 months, Casper's previous owners dumped him at the animal shelter in Orlando. Casper could not be adopted due to a front leg issue. However, a rescue lady in Ocala saw his picture and just had to help him. She went to Orlando and picked Casper up and took him to her vet. The vet referred her to The University of Florida Vet School where Casper was taken every week for several months for splints and splint changes. He was growing and had to have a new splint every week. After the splinting was done, Casper was not "fixed" yet, and was facing surgery. But first, he had to wait till he was fully grown to have the surgery to prevent future problems. The last week of August, 2007, Casper went to the Vet School to have his ankle fused. This would enable him to be able to walk and run normally for the first time in his life!!! Now, he is fully healed and in need of a family to love him for the incredible boy he is. Casper is now about 15 months old and weighs in at approximately 45 lbs. He is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. He pays no attention to cats at all, gets along well with other dogs, LOVES people and wants to be your constant companion. He needs someone who is home a lot to be with him because he just doesn't want to be left alone. He has learned what toys are and loves to play. And he just wants to be wherever you are all the time. His perfect forever home would have a canine playmate provided the playmate doesn't play too rough. Casper's personality is awesome and we know you will fall in love with him the minute you meet this wonderful, beautiful boy.

Casper is up to date on shots, neutered, micro chipped and currently on Heartworm and flea preventative.

LEVI - Chihuahua Mix

This is little Levi! He is about 3 years old and only weighs 10 pounds. His original owner went into a nursing home and had no money to feed him so he was starving. He was given to a family who ended up not wanting to keep him. A nice woman rescued him from this family that was once again neglecting him. When she asked them why they didn't want him anymore they said he was ugly and didn't like him.
They were just going to open the door and let him go. We think he is adorable and can't imagine why anyone would do this to him. He doesn't deserve it. Because he has been tossed around and neglected, he is very afraid of being left alone. He would be best in a home with a family who is home during the day or has other animals to keep him company.
Levi is neutered, up to date on shots and currently on flea and heart worm preventative. Levi is not completely housetrained yet and needs someone who is patient and will help him learn this.
Adoption fee is $100.

If you would like to adopt Levi, please fill out our adoption application

ROCKY GEORGE

This is Rocky George and he is one special dog, indeed!

Rocky was abused for the first four years of his life. He was abused because he refused to fight with other dogs so his owner repeatedly hit him in the head to make him fight. it never worked. Rocky refused. the owner gave up and tied him up in front of a drug house in hopes it would scare people away. Rocky just wagged his tail, hoping somebody would come and rescue him from this awful place. Well, his dreams came true when one of our volunteers heard of Rocky's misery and decided to get him out of the drug infested neighborhood. Rocky gave her a big lick on the face, jumped right in the car, let out a big sigh and fell asleep!
We love this dog because he stands for such goodness. With everything that has happened to him, he is one goofy dog who just loves everyone he meets. He lives with four other dogs at the moment and quickly established himself as the alpha. the other dogs understood and they all sleep, eat and play together with no problems.
Rocky is neutered, house trained, micro chipped, up to date on shots and currently on flea and heart worm preventative.

BONNIE - Terrier mix

This is Bonnie! Bonnie is a terrier mix. Bonnie is a sweet pup who seems to be about a year old. A good Samaritan walked out her front door and found Bonnie with Clyde (also on our website) on her door step. These poor sweet dogs had been the victims of some kind of attack as their heads were full of scratches and blood. They were covered in ticks and fleas! Every bone in their bodies showed from lack of food. As they cowered, this good Samaritan approached and offered them food and they took it gratefully. Bonnie and Clyde found their first true friend!
Now, Bonnie has a gorgeous coat and is at a healthy weight. All her cuts and bruises have healed and she's ready for fun! Despite everything she has been through she has pearly white teeth and loves to give kisses.
They still wag their tails when they are shown love and kindness. She is eager to please and would make a wonderful family member for anyone wanting love and companionship.
Bonnie is full of life and loves to play with people and other dogs.
Bonnie is spayed, up to date on shots and currently on flea and heart worm preventative.

Bonnie's adoption fee is $100.

CLYDE - Boxer mix

This is Clyde! Clyde is a gorgeous Boxer mix looking for someone to love. Clyde is about 2-3 years old and has the most gorgeous eyes. He has a tough exterior but really just wants to be loved.
A good Samaritan walked out her front door and found Clyde and Bonnie (also on our website) on her door step. Every bone in their bodies showed from lack of food. As they cowered, this good Samaritan approached and offered them food and they took it gratefully. Bonnie and Clyde found their first true friend!
Clyde is a lover, not a fighter and LOVES to play. After xrays done at the vet, we found that Clyde has two bullets in his body but it has not effected him in any way. He has seen hard times in his days and has clearly taken care of Bonnie her whole life. Despite the abuse they have endured they still wag their tails when they are shown love and kindness.
Clyde loves to be with the family and on his bed or dog couch. He is fine with other dogs and very sweet. Look at those eyes!!

Buddy is one special boy. Buddy came to our rescue from a cruelty case. He was chained up in a crate, in a backyard and left to die - no food or water, down to 30 pounds. His kennel mate, unfortunately did die, from starvation. Buddy survived and he is now safe and sound.
Buddy has gained 20 pounds and is now 50 pounds and getting healthier every day. He is great with kids and loves to play but is also very good at calming down when you want him to. He is also very good at going into his crate. He would like you to know that he loves his toys, loves being indoors, playing with other doggies and sleeping on his foster moms bed. Everyday he gets up and gives her a kiss to say "thank you". We are the ones who are thankful for finding such a sweet boy.
He is truly a miracle boy.

MANDOLIN - Sheltie Mix

Meet Mandy (short for Mandolin) – This special girl was saved from certain death on a busy highway. She is on the small side, about 38 pounds, and a sweeter gal could not be found. We think she is about a year old. Mandy is very well behaved and in excellent health.
Mandy is completely deaf but this does not slow her down in any way!! :) in fact, she knows more commands then most dogs as they are all hand signals. She knows, sit. stay, come, down and roll over.
Her favorite activity is to follow her human from room to room, and if mom or dad happen to sit down, Mandy will hop right up into their laps. She loves to be petted and her fur is soft as silk.
She goes willingly into her crate for down time when her humans are out and enjoys her Kong toys filled with treats and peanut butter. She gets along great with dogs of all ages and also likes the cat, often touching noses with him. In fact, we would prefer to adopt Mandy to a family that has other dogs as she is much happier in the company of other canine friends!
Mandy doesn't bark or chew on inappropriate items. She is going to make a special family a wonderful companion. All you need to add is love and Mandy will be your friend forever!

Mandy is spayed, crate trained, micro chipped, up to date on shots and currently on flea and heart worm preventative.
